Here Comes the Sun
An online mini-conference on positive learning and mindfulness I June 20, 2026
The central theme of our conference is positive learning and mindfulness in language education. We believe this event offers fresh, restorative perspectives and fosters inspiring discussions among colleagues as the academic year draws to a close.
01

Teachers pour curiosity, encouragement, and patience into their students every single day. But when did you last turn that same generous gaze inward? As the sun returns and the year draws to a close, this session offers a mindful, strengths-based exploration of what it means to grow - not just as an educator, but as a whole, curious, evolving person at the threshold of a new season.
02
The end of the school year is a good opportunity to reflect on the 'clutter' we have accumulated, and consider what we want to keep, recycle or get rid of, allowing us to start the new year with renewed enthusiasm and a clear head. This session is a chance to gently reflect on the lessons we have learnt throughout the year.

03

Integrating crafts into the language classroom promotes mindfulness, creativity, and student engagement. Hands-on activities such as drawing or paper crafts encourage focus while supporting communication and collaboration. Craft-based learning also benefits students who multitask or rely on fidgeting to maintain concentration. By combining language practice with creative crafts, classrooms reducé anxiety, and support mindful learning experiences for diverse learners.
04
This session explores the importance of teacher wellbeing in a profession built on caring for others. Through mindfulness, self-awareness, compassion, and community support, participants will reflect on stress, emotional overload, and negative thought patterns in education. Practical strategies such as mindfulness resets, brain breaks, grounding techniques, and moments of pause will help teachers reconnect with balance, presence, and joy as the school year comes to an end.

05

Drawing on the metaphor of the garden, this talk explores how mindfulness, resilience, and nature connectedness can enrich language learning and teaching. Through reflections on growth, seasons, and diverse ways of flourishing, participants will consider how classrooms can become spaces of compassion, curiosity, and renewal. The session invites educators to look at personal and professional growth from different angles and to cultivate wellbeing alongside learning.
